Job Description: BGIS ITS has a unique service relationship with commercial customers that have a national presence. Our commercial technicians conduct regularly scheduled maintenance, demand service requests, repair services and equipment changeouts at locations in and around their states. Work is coordinated with our support team that includes, dispatchers/coordinators, supervisors and additional technical resources, all designed to ensure our techs have the resources they need to complete their job safely and efficiently. Our technician team is provided with a fully stocked service van, iPad, iPhone and required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Primary Qualifications: 3-5 years of Commercial HVAC experience (Chiller experience would be beneficial) Position is performed remotely; however, may require travel/driving to client locations for training, meetings and other in-person events. Hold a valid certification to provide HVAC services in the State in which the work is performed. Responsible for performing work in accordance with established processes and practices that comply with internal and external requirements including but not limited to environmental, health safety, security, and fire protection. Flexibility to work overtime / weekends as needed with some travel required. Physical Requirements: climb and descend ladders while carrying up to 30 lbs., lift up to 75 lbs. and maneuver in confined spaces i.e., crawlspaces, attics, etc. EPA Certification required. Must be willing to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Must meet enhanced security clearance requirements. Subject to drug, background, and driver’s license checks Skills Service and install new heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. Service and install new ice machines. Do routine maintenance on ice machines and refrigeration. Assess and troubleshoot commercial HVAC to determine required repairs. Inspect and perform equipment repair and replacements. Perform routine preventative maintenance and recommend preventative repairs to avoid unplanned downtime. Respond to emergency service requests. Provides observations about facility, facility mechanical conditions and deficiencies and provides recommendations for enhancement and repair. Participates in and assists with facility-related projects. Adhere to all safety policies and procedures. Able to work on lite commercial equipment. Excellent customer service skills Completes paperwork in a timely manner. Reports to job assignment and work in a timely manner Ability to work with minimal supervision. Experience with industry software preferable but not required.

BGIS ITS is currently seeking a BAS/BMS Controls Technician to join the team in Tampa, FL.

Hourly Rate: $26-$32 per hour

  • Will be required to travel for periods of 1-3 weeks at a time. 
  • Selected Candidate will be provided with a take-home vehicle, Cellphone, Table and Purchase card 
 
 
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES 
 
Project Related Research
  • Conduct research into the feasibility, design, operation and performance of mechanisms, components and systems related to building systems.
Project Capital Planning and Review
  • Work with multi-disciplinary team of facility management professionals and technicians to develop short and long-term capital planning for existing facilities.
  • Assist with preparation of Project Justifications and Project Descriptions during planning phase.
  • Support Project Delivery Services, acting in owners engineer capacity, during project initiation and planning by reviewing statement of work, feasibility reports, schedule, estimates, and design specifications, from 3rd party consultants.
Cost Estimation
  • Utilize standard cost estimating software (RS Means) to establish baseline estimates.
Manage Consulting Services
  • Review statements of work for consulting services.
  • Achieve 3rd party consultant savings by providing expertise to the Property Managers with initial review of problem statements, including on-site reviews and determining the criticality of the problem statement (urgent, emergency or plan for planning year Building Management Plan).
  • Collaborate with account specific leads, including National Director of Operations and the procurement team with various maintenance contract development activities in technical capacity.
Review Drawings and Specification
  • Review drawings and specification on an as required basis.
Inspections / Audits / Investigations
  • Conduct and validate, within their region, regular technical inspections/audits on maintenance tasks completed by 3rd party vendors or in-house technicians. This includes, but not limited to, reports and certifications provided by the 3rd party vendors.
  • Evaluate technical maintenance processes and 3rd party vendor Technical Scopes of Work, for compliance with the contract mandate.
  • Participate in technical investigations related to non-conformances, deviations, or critical failures. Works with Property Management team to perform Root Cause Analysis and validate recommended corrective action.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
  • Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Technologist Diploma with 7+ year of relevant experience, or a bachelor’s in mechanical or electrical engineering with 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of building electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Knowledge of applicable Canadian codes and standards.
  • Ability to liaison with Authority Having Jurisdictions.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in fast paced environment.
  • Ability to work on several projects concurrently.
  • Experience working in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
  • Able to monitor costs, including control of project schedules. Knowledge of Cost Estimating software (e.g. RS Means);
  • Proficient with MS Office suite.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with clients, staff, and other employees.
  • Strong organization skills.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Prior customer interface experience.
  • Highly meticulous nature, strong attention to detail.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills in both official languages preferred.
  • Proficiency with computer Tools.
  • Licenses and/or Professional Accreditation
  • Certified Engineering Technologist certification in good standing or Professional Engineering (P.Eng.) designation in good standing required.
  • LEED certified and/or knowledge of sustainable development and energy efficiency principles is an asset.
