Service Technician

Chester County Fuel is a full-service heating and air conditioning company with a concentration in oil heat. Family owned and operated, we have been servicing the heating and cooling needs of homeowners and businesses in the Chester County area for over 20 years. We are growing!
We are currently seeking a highly qualified full-time Service Technician to grow with our rapidly expanding company. Our ideal candidate is highly motivated, possesses outstanding attention to detail, and has an outgoing positive attitude.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
- $25 - $31/hr.

RESPONSIBILITIES (Including but not limited to):
Maintain HVAC Systems:
Perform regular or routine maintenance tasks on HVAC systems. Tasks may include clearing intake and outflow vents of dust and debris, ensuring that filtration systems are clean and effective, and replacing registers in residential or commercial locations. Perform seasonal maintenance as a building’s system switches between heating and cooling functions.

Troubleshoot HVAC Equipment:
Troubleshooting HVAC systems and system elements. Diagnose issues reported by customers or problems that arise during routine maintenance and system testing, and determine whether the system or element can be repaired or if it needs to be replaced.

Repair and Replace HVAC Systems:
HVAC repairs ranging from simple parts replacement to complex issues that require a complete replacement of the HVAC system. Install and test all new units and replaced components to ensure the system is in working order.

Consult with Customers:
Consult directly with customers to gather information about performance issues, provide cost and time estimates related to repair and maintenance tasks, answer questions and/or provide advice on operation and maintenance. May also provide contract documents and collect payments.

Ensure Safe Repair and Operations:
Maintain safe operations and follow best practices while working with the system. In most cases, this includes disconnecting the system from its power source to avoid electrical shock, or for oil and gas-based heating systems, ensuring that the fuel systems are disconnected prior to starting work. In addition, making sure that the areas around the system are dry and free of clutter.

Maintain documentation related to customer systems/services performed. May also prepare documents for customers, including troubleshooting steps they can take between regular maintenance.

- Stand, sit, or walk for long periods of time.
- Climb ladders, scaffolds, or poles.
- Communicate effectively using speech, vision, and hearing.
- Use hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations as well as handle tools and controls.
- Bend, twist, kneel, squat, crawl, climb, and reach.
- Lift, carry, push or pull medium weights, up to 75 pounds.
- Participate in activities involving being around moving machinery, exposure to marked changes in temperature and humidity, and exposure to dust, fumes, and gases.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or G.E.D. Certificate
- Two years of documentable HVAC journeyman level operation, maintenance and repair experience in the HVAC and refrigeration trade.
LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Valid Pennsylvania driver's license
