The Level 2 Electrician is a skilled, licensed, or apprentice-advanced electrician responsible for performing electrical installations, repairs, and maintenance with moderate supervision. This role works independently on standard tasks and supports complex projects under the guidance of a Lead Electrician or Foreman. A Level 2 Electrician is expected to demonstrate solid technical competence, job-site professionalism, and adherence to all safety and code requirements.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Electrical Work & Technical Functions
- Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems including:
- Service panels, breakers, disconnects, and grounding systems
- Lighting systems (interior, exterior, emergency, and low-voltage lighting)
- Receptacles, switches, circuits, and basic control wiring
- Perform conduit bending and installation (EMT, PVC, rigid)
- Pull, route, terminate, and label wiring according to plans and codes
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams
- Identify electrical issues using appropriate testing equipment
- Perform electrical upgrades, retrofits, and service calls
- Coordinate work with HVAC, plumbing, and other MEP trades as required
Job Site & Operational Responsibilities
- Work independently on routine electrical tasks with minimal supervision
- Assist Lead Electricians and Foremen on complex installations
- Accurately document work performed, materials used, and job status
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas
- Communicate clearly with supervisors, dispatch, and customers
- Properly use and maintain company-issued tools, equipment, and vehicles
Safety & Compliance
- Follow all OSHA, NEC, state, and local electrical codes
- Use required PPE and comply with company safety policies
- Participate in safety meetings, toolbox talks, and required training
- Report hazards, incidents, and near-misses immediately
- Ensure lock-out/tag-out and job-site safety procedures are followed
Requirements
Required Qualifications
Licensing & Education:
- Active Level 2 / Journeyman-level electrician license or registration, or equivalent state-recognized credential
- High school diploma or GED required
- Completion of an accredited electrical apprenticeship program preferred
Experience:
- 3–5 years of hands-on electrical experience
- Experience in residential and/or light commercial electrical work
- Familiarity with NEC and local electrical codes
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong understanding of electrical systems and components
- Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings
- Proficiency with electrical testing tools and meters
- Solid problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Strong time management and job-site organization
- Professional communication and customer service skills
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry up to 75 lbs
- Ability to climb ladders, work at heights, and enter confined spaces
- Ability to stand, kneel, crouch, bend, and work overhead for extended periods
- Ability to work in varying weather conditions
Tools & Equipment:
- Personal hand tools appropriate to trade level
- Company-provided power tools, vehicles, and safety equipment
- Ability to safely operate lifts, ladders, and job-site equipment
Compensation: $40.00 - $50.00 per hour
