The Gas Safety Manager is responsible for leading and advancing the company's gas safety programs, ensuring compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, and fostering a culture of safety throughout the organization. This role partners closely with operations, construction, service, and leadership teams to identify risks, implement safety initiatives, investigate incidents, and continuously improve safety performance across gas distribution operations. The ideal candidate is a strong leader with extensive knowledge of natural gas systems, pipeline safety regulations, field operations, and employee training programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, manage, and enforce all aspects of the company's gas safety program.
- Ensure compliance with TECO, PHMSA, OSHA, state utility commission, and other applicable regulatory requirements.
- Develop, implement, and maintain gas safety policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Conduct safety audits, inspections, and field observations to identify hazards and drive corrective actions.
- Monitor compliance with Operator Qualification (OQ) programs and related requirements.
- Oversee incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action plans.
- Partner with operations leadership to improve safety performance and operational reliability.
- Analyze safety metrics, trends, and leading indicators to identify improvement opportunities.
- Deliver safety training programs for field personnel, supervisors, and managers.
- Support emergency response planning, preparedness, and post-event evaluations.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for gas safety regulations and industry best practices.
- Represent the organization during regulatory audits, inspections, and safety reviews.

Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, Safety Management, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in natural gas operations, pipeline safety, utility operations, or a related industry.
- Previous leadership experience managing safety programs and personnel.
- Strong knowledge of PHMSA regulations, OSHA standards, and gas utility safety requirements.
- Experience with Operator Qualification (OQ) programs preferred.
- Demonstrated experience conducting investigations and implementing corrective actions.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to influence safety culture across multiple departments and locations.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and safety management systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) designation.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Experience within a natural gas utility, pipeline operator, or gas distribution company.
- Knowledge of Damage Prevention and Public Awareness programs.
Compensation: $125,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year
